Wingless Dragon puppet

Holy cow, this one was a nightmare to rig and animate. I made the dragon's eye closed the whole time because I was done after animating the body. I thought puppets in harmony would be a lot easier than it turned out to be, especially since I had experience in After Effects. Although, after a while, I did start to get into the groove of puppeting in Harmony and using the node system, I'll definitely be trying puppets again in this program.

Walk Cycle

I decided to post the walk cycle without the background because I thought it was too distracting, especially since the character isn't colored, and so it will loop better in this gif. I based the walk loosely off of Tobey Maguire's walk in Spiderman 3, aka the best scene in all off cinema. I think I did ok with this one, I like how the head bobs with a bit of attitude, although the arms and hands could've been a bit looser. I kind of wish I made this walk at an angle, I think I would've been able to show more personality in the whole body that way.

Weight part 2 - electric boogaloo

Yeah, It's unfinished. The original animation was supposed to be twice as long, because of that I ended up getting distracted with little details that had nothing to do with the main action. As the deadline came closer, I had to drop about half of the project to get it in on time, which sucks because I was really liking how the project was going. Maybe once school starts lightening up I'll finish the project in its entirety.

Weight project part 1

This is the beginning of the first big project of this animation class, and due to my hatred towards the off model-ness of the head turn, I've decided to try again with the same character. This project is a bit more complicated, so I've simplified the design in a way that I think will be easy to stay consistent, for example, the hair is now in 5 simple chunks instead of one or two complicated chunks.

Head turn (AKA: Why you need a character sheet)

The character I used for this head turn is a simplified version of a character I use to test out mediums. It was a particularly busy week when I worked on this project, so to save time, I thought I could skip making a character sheet. This resulted in many inconsistencies, especially in the hair. I'm excited to make more head turns in the future so that I don't have to think about this one anymore (I'm not very proud of it).

Sack o Flour does a magics

So nice to finally animate a character! This was a lot of fun, I really liked animating the twist when old sack o flour shot the wand. I kind of wish I added more inbetweens on the last turn, but besides that, I really like this one.

Gesture drawings (Featuring Sack O' Flour!)

Next project we're animating a sack o' flour, so we all made little character sheets with different expressions. I love drawing this little guy! Although character design is a lot of fun, it's nice not having to worry about the details and just jumping straight into the personality of a character. I'll be honest though, I think I went a little overboard with the shading and highlights.
